The physical environment is crucial to student learning. Over the past five years, significant progress has been made in maintaining and improving school facilities. The operations team has worked tirelessly to perform both preventative maintenance and repair work to keep the district running smoothly. The work continues with projects like a new inclusive playground at Eisenhower Elementary that will ensure all students have a place to learn, play, and grow.

Facilities & Infrastructure is one of the focus areas of McPherson Public Schools' strategic plan, Vision 2025. Vision 2025 centers on Academic Experience, Unified Culture, Faculty & Staff, Engagement & Activities, Community Partnerships, and Facilities & Infrastructure, guiding efforts to provide the best educational experience for students and the community.

it's no secret in McPherson Public Schools that we have some facility needs that uh that we need to work strategically to address and we're committed um at the highest level to make sure that we continue those efforts and that we continue to develop solutions that our community can support as we reflect back on the previous 5 years though while we haven't been able to achieve a full-scale solution for those we have a lot of things to celebrate and a lot of hard work that's been put in to make sure we're still providing the best physical environment that we can for our students and the staff across our schools I have the privilege of overseeing the operations team which uh involves Food Service Transportation custodial and maintenance and 1 of the things that we strive for is building Unity within all of them uh as they complement each other we are doing our very best to respond to the issues that need taking care of in the district along with preventive maintenance that keeps things from breaking down in the first place I'm really excited about uh plans to implement a inclusive playground at Eisenhower we've been working with our special education staff to get some new surfacing so we can push our kids that are in our Wheelchairs and have them more inclusive in our playground and play with their genetic papers Eisenhower has a program called life skills where we have kids with multiple severe disabilities and we love including them into everything that we do they feel safe and they know that they're going to be loved and ultimately that helps with the achievement that we see with these kids results so many times people in the operations team don't get the idea that they're part of Education without them education doesn't happen and while teachers and parents are in the classroom that classroom is made possible by maintenance make sure that everything's working and custodial making sure that room is clean Food Service makes it possible for them to think because their stomachs aren't empty and transportation makes it possible for them to be there as superintendent of schools I think the thing that I'm the proudest of is how ambitious our goals were that we established in the vision 2025 and then the just sheer grid and resilience that our staff and our students have committed over the last 5 years to make sure that we've achieved as much as we can as we think think about planning now for the next 10 years of what McPherson Public Schools can and should look like I think it's important to pause and reflect back on everything that we've accomplished through all of that hard work over the last 5 years and celebrate some of the key areas is that we're really proud of and should be proud of through all that hard work
